The library on the first floor has only part of the plasterwork to the internal hall partition wall existing. This single room possibly is the largest lath & lime plaster room to be undertaken in  60 years in Scotland. with a floor area of 60 M2 and a ceiling height of 3600 mm.

The Cornice has been "Scotch bracketed" with a girth of 2 metres all in lime insitu run cornice.

      

  This is a top view of the lath showing the rivets formed on the back of the lathing

     

First coating to the lathing this room has taken 3 ton of lime sand to first coat and now must cure property prior to the next stage -

Second straightening coat

            

Screeds are formed around the perimeter of the ceiling and the centre filled. A devil float is used to compact and scratch the surface ready to receive the finishing.
