Refixing the pilasters

Dundee was famous for jute scrim and in the past. which played a large part in the ornamental plaster industry from the turn of the last century.  Imported jute scrim is still used in the production and fixing of precast fibrous plaster; see our  plaster products page

The existing circular pilaster are 2/3 columns consisting of half column with 125mm add to both sides

        

These add on sections had separated. Gypsum plaster and jute scrim wads were applied to the rear face and the joints filled

.      

Existing timber frame is screwed  to the wall. Screws are used to fix the pilaster.

       

Existing capitols after cleaning are fixed in position with scrim wads and pointed.
